Rudd Fishing on the River Cam - New Video

New Video Live and What an Adventure! Cambridgeshire was stunning: lovely countryside, great people and big rudd that kept feeding despite the heatwave. My first visit to fish the River Cam certainly made us work for it, but staying mobile and being patient eventually paid off. We struck GOLD, and the video is now live on the Korum YouTube channel.

A first visit to the River Cam
I’d never fished the Cam before this trip. Usually, I’d head further up into the Fens or over to the Ouse, so this was a chance to try somewhere different. If you’ve followed my rudd fishing in the Fens, you’ll know why these beautiful fish are worth travelling for.

Staying mobile in the heat
The fishing was hard work in the heat. This wasn’t a case of turning up and finding everything easy, even with those big rudd still willing to feed. We kept moving, tried different stretches and gave ourselves the chance to find them rather than pinning all our hopes on one spot.

For me, the main takeaway was that patience and mobility can work together. Moving doesn’t have to mean rushing; it means being prepared to try another stretch when the fishing is proving difficult. For more on targeting these fish, have a look at my rudd fishing tips. This trip was another reminder that persistence matters.

Watch the adventure
Those golden scales and bright fins made the effort worthwhile. There’s plenty to enjoy about exploring a new river, but catching the fish you came for is a lovely way to round it off. Capturing these trips adds another dimension, too; I’ve shared more about that in my fishing filming kit guide.

Thanks for checking out the video, now live on the Korum YouTube channel. Lovely surroundings, great people and hard-earned rudd: what an introduction to the Cam!
