Korum Snapper Floatex Lure Video

We just launch a new video on the Korum fishing channel on YouTube – How to get the best out of Floatex. This covers lures such as Squirlyz, Squirmz, Reggiez and Gonks. Floatex is a bouyant material used to create these lures that have caught me quite a few nice Perch at the start of this season (and indeed, over the last few years!) You can check out the video below!

One of my favourite Floatex lures is the Squirlyz and it’s been particularly effective in the Real Ale colour. In clear water this lure kinda disappears to create just a shimmer in the water that the Perch just cannot resist!

Snapper Squirlyz to search out Perch
A cast into the left hand margin and the Squirlyz is smashed by a nice perch. With that resting in the net I cast to the same spot again and bingo! – another cracking perch … two on the bounce!

The Squirlyz are also really effective on a Dropshot. This works well once you’ve found the fish and now you want to apply a bit of finesse to pick them off!

Dropshotting for Perch
I’ve had some really nice perch on the Dropshot, including this really nice fish of 3lb 3oz, taken right in the edge.

Big perch on the Dropshot
In recent seasons I’ve generally used the Ned Rig in my finesse fishing, but the Dropshot has crept back into my fishing this season. This has worked well for me on the river and on the canals, particularly around boats and up against lock gates.

Having said this, I am not about to turn my back on the Ned Rig and stick baits like the Squirmz. A number of very successful big perch fisherman believe the the real bigguns’ are a bit lazy and a stick bait crept very slowly along the bottom is still a really good method to target those bigger fish.

Ned Rig Fishing for Perch
The Squirmz are a great option when you’re fishing a honeyhole (a spot where you’ve regularly caught fish from in the past). You’re not searching, you kinda know they’re there so you can go straight in with your finesse methods like the Ned Rig.
Last year I found a couple of spots on the River Blackwater in Hampshire. A few weeks back I went straight to that spot with the Ned Rig and managed to catch two perch in two casts for the cameras. A nice way to end this video and whilst they weren’t massive it did show how effective the method can be.
