Fishing – Content Creators Kit List

Fishing – Content Creators Kit List

January 4, 2023
In my last vlog I went through the kit I use to create video content on the bank. I do get asked about this from time to time so here’s the full list.

The Nifty 50 – Canon 50mm Lens
Something to consider … my style of fishing means that I have to take as little as possible with me. Most of the time I like to move around and stay mobile and only take a small bag (this stuff has to fit in that bag with all my other stuff). So here goes, not all of this comes out with me at once.
✅ Canon EOS M50 Compact Mirrorless Camera
✅ Lenses – 15-45mm Kit Lens, 22mm and 50mm
✅ Gobe 49mm Variable ND Filter – Control light entering the camera
✅ Rode VideoMicro Microphone (like a small shotgun)
✅ National Geographic Travel Tripod
✅ Go Pro Hero 7s x 2 (I would go for the latest model)
✅ Neewer Dimmable 176 LED Video Light

Of course, in some situations (like short vertical videos or vlogs) the latest iphone with its 3 lenses is perfectly fine. Don’t let the list above stop you capturing your special moments … the latest smartphones really are quite incredible, but for me I like the extra control I get with a compact camera.
I talk through my camera kit in the video below, around 2m 53secs in.
I hope it helps some of you wannabe content creators out there!
Tips for Getting Started With Fishing Videos
You do not need to buy everything on the list straight away. Begin with what you already have and upgrade gradually as you learn what your videos really need.
Pay attention to sound. Viewers forgive average footage much more easily than poor audio, so a decent microphone is one of the best early upgrades.
Use good light. Filming in the early morning or late afternoon gives a soft, warm look, and makes fish and scenery look fantastic.
Keep the camera steady. A small tripod or gimbal makes your footage look far more professional.
Capture plenty of extra shots. Scenery, close-ups of tackle and the small moments between bites all help to tell the story when you edit.
Most of all, enjoy it. The best fishing videos come from anglers who love being on the bank and simply want to share the experience with others.
