JW Young and Sons Centrepin Reels

I feel very fortunate to have been using these stunning JW Young and Sons Centrepin Reels for well over a year now. I’ve been fishing with them quite hard through last summer, winter and now into spring. We’re going to take a closer look at two magnificent centrepins, the Triton True-Pin and the Trudex Mk III.

Let’s start by looking at the Triton True-Pin. I’ve been using the Triton to catch Barbel, Chub and more recently Tench.
The Triton True-Pin
A few key features
– This ultra stylish reel is anodised in a black lustre
– Brass style fittings to finish
– 12 spokes and a micro-adjustable drag
– A Beta-Light slot for night fishing.

The Triton is a classic True-Pin design which spins directly on the centre spindle without any bearings. This offers anglers a truly traditional fishing experience like no other. True-pins are widely considered by anglers across the globe as the creme de la creme of reels.
The Trudex Mk III
I’ve loaded my Trudex Mk III with 4lb line and have been using it for smaller species such as Roach, Rudd and Grayling. However, it’s more than capable of tackling bigger fish and on some sessions I’ve used it to land specimen tench.

A few key features
– A compact 4.5″ x 0.54″
– At a mere 243g, incredibly lightweight
– Silver spool and black backplate
– Simple on/off click drag system
– A wire adjustable lineguard, accommodating both left and right-handed anglers
The Trudex Mk III captures the essence of tradition and innovation, and has been a joy will certainly be coming out with me regularly in the new river season.

Also note that now there’s a Trudex III in black. A stunning combination of precision, craftsmanship, and style 👌
